Product Description

As you lean back in your chair at the completion of a delicious meal, you look down at your plate with a puzzled expression. You are too tired to remember if it is okay to feed the scraps from your macaroni and cheese to your red wiggler composting worms.

You want to be sure you are feeding your worms a healthy, balanced diet, but you don't have the energy to go online and double check. You have dishes to do, after all!

Our new “What Can Red Wigglers Eat” Infographic Refrigerator Magnet may be just what you need. It’s a quick-and-simple way to learn that dairy products, like macaroni and cheese, are on the do-not-feed list.

Easy to understand, this bright 6” x 9” magnet outlines the dos and don’ts of feeding red wiggler worms. It displays colorful graphics showing you what kinds of food will keep your red wigglers happy. This helps to make worm composting feel more like second nature.

To make sure you always understand what’s okay and what isn’t, slap this magnet right on your refrigerator. In this easy-to-spot location, the magnet reminds you what sorts of foods keeps your composting worms happy and healthy.

On the top in green are the perfect worm foods: Vegetables, fruits, and beans. Everything a vegan eats minus the nuts, spices, oily foods. Hold the salt please.

In the middle, in yellow, are foods which are okay to to feed in moderation. Too much pizza crust, pancakes, and other starchy foods make the worms unhappy, and can attract mites if left in the bin for too long.

Lastly, listed in red at the bottom of the magnet, are foods which are totally off-limits. These are the forbidden fruits – don’t toss citrus like oranges, grapefruits, lemons, and limes in the composting bin. Meats, bones and dairy products are prohibited as well. Otherwise critters you don’t want to attract may make themselves at home inside the worm-composting bin.

This handy-dandy magnet also includes a bonus! At the bottom it lists 3 practical tips to keep in mind when feeding your worms:

  • Remember to rinse off the vegetables and fruits before putting them inside the worm-composting bin.

  • Add some grit; this is fine soil, crushed eggshells or even sand. The worms use this grit during digestion to break down food in their gut.

  • You may want to blend your food scraps to speed up the processing. Milkshakes are not allowed (remember, no dairy!) but fruit smoothies are – just as long as they’re citrus-free.
